Kaakha helps parents understand their child's language homework. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, where it is kept, and how you can delete it.
Who we are
Kaakha is run by name or company, and address. For anything about your data, write to contact email.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a password. The password is stored only in hashed form by our sign-in service. We never see it in plain text.
- Your settings: the language your child is learning, your own language, an optional extra language, and your chosen voice.
- What you give Kaakha in a homework session: photos of homework, voice recordings, and text you type.
- What Kaakha makes from it: the text read from a photo or recording, translations, and spoken audio.
- Feedback you send: your 👍 or 👎 on a result, the reasons you pick and any comment. If you tick "Let the Kaakha team see this turn", we also keep what that turn said (its text and translations) and, if your phone still has it, its photo, so we can fix the problem. We delete the shared turn and photo after 90 days, and everything when you delete your account.
- Usage counts: how many messages, photos and recordings you sent in the last day, so we can apply fair daily limits. Only counts and times, no content.
- Technical logs: short-lived server logs (such as the time and type of a request) for security and to fix problems. They never contain your password, sign-in tokens, homework text, photos or recordings.
Some settings stay only on your phone and are never sent to us: your colour theme and your reminders.
Why we use it
Only to provide Kaakha: to read, translate and speak your homework, to keep your homework history so you can return to it, and to keep the service secure. We don't show ads, and we don't sell your data.

To read, translate and speak your homework, Kaakha sends the needed part of it to these providers:

We may change providers. This table always lists the current ones. Their data retention: confirm each provider's retention setting, e.g. Sarvam "no retention".
Where your data is kept
Our servers and database are in Bangalore, India. Photos, recordings and generated audio are stored with DigitalOcean in San Francisco, USA. The AI providers above may process data outside India.
How long we keep it
- Your homework sessions are kept until you delete them, or until you delete your account. confirm the retention period (Q15)
- When you delete your account, it's removed at once, and you're signed out on every device.
- Backup copies of our database are kept for 14 days, then deleted. Deleted data can remain in a backup for up to 14 days.
Children
Kaakha accounts are for parents and guardians, not children. Homework you photograph or record may include your child's name, handwriting or voice. Please share only what's needed for the homework. consent and children's data under the DPDP Act (Q22)
Keeping it safe
All traffic to Kaakha is encrypted (HTTPS). Your homework can be reached only through your own account. Our database isn't reachable from the internet. Sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage.
Your choices and rights
- Delete any homework session from the app at any time.
- Delete your whole account from the app: see how.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, by writing to contact email.
- Grievances: grievance officer, as required under Indian law.

This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers, and it loads nothing from other sites.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
